Alright folks! Let's do this!

Thanks for inviting me to speak to your group! It is an honor and a joy; one that I take seriously in the hopes that it won't be the only chance that we will get to work together. You have a lot to think about as you prepare for your upcoming event. So, with that in mind, I've put this page together to make things a little bit easier.

Below I have included headshots and bios to serve you before the event, a few items to help during the event and a couple of special requests for after the event.

BIO

For promo purposes and/or introductions here are a couple of different bios to choose from. Feel free to use (*cough* *cough* embellish) this info in whatever way you see fit.

"Ryan O’Hara serves as the Content Director for Saint Paul’s Outreach, a national Catholic organization that ministers to college students on campus. He is passionate about seeing Catholics come alive in Christ, grow to spiritual maturity and become apostles to the people in their life. Ryan has a B.A. in History from William Jewell College and an M.A. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame. He and his wife Jill live in West St Paul, MN and are parents to four boys and zookeepers for a bunch of their pets (one cat, one parakeet, and a couple of frogs)."

"From his start in campus ministry in 1997 to his current role as Content Director with Saint Paul's Outreach, Ryan has been helping Catholics come alive in faith and become committed followers of Jesus Christ. During the Event

 

High Maintenance Stuff

During the event there are three things that I'll need in order to connect well with your audience

  • A microphone (in order of preference)

    • Lavalier or lapel mic

    • Headset mic

    • Wireless handheld mic

    • Wired handheld mic (with a stand nearby, preferably a boom stand)

  • A bottle of water (in order of preference)

    • One time I jokingly asked for FIJI water and the venue came though, so let's go with that. Just kidding!!

    • Good ole tap water will do, if a bottle of water isn't available.

  • A portable podium (in order of preference)

    • Music stand

    • Wooden lectern (or ambo, if that better suits your lexicon).

 

After the Event

Feedback + Endorsement

As I take a more 'proactive’ approach to public speaking, I am in need of two things:

+ Feedback - What worked? What didn't?  This sort of information will help me improve as a communicator and take the necessary steps to serve the Church better through speaking.

+ Endorsements - I am looking for people who will document what makes me an effective, trusted, and professional communicator.   This gives other people confidence that I'll be able to meet the needs of their event.
